Is it just me that is scared to be judged by everyone in every things I do, even the little things? Like choosing what to wear everyday and then thinking if you're overdressed or trying too hard. I deal with that everyday in my life and I tried talking to my family and friends but they just laugh it out.

I have social anxiety and I work at Wal-Mart. I sometimes have anxiety attacks at work, and everyone thinks I'm just pissed off about something.

I have both social anxiety and depression. The social anxiety used to be so severe some years ago. But now I have one coping mechanism that is to fake it till I make it. But since, according to my therapist, my depression level is higher than my social anxiety. I get exhausted quite easily with this coping mechanism. Well, I used to lock myself for months and now I'm able to attend the church service once a week. I think it's still quite an achievement. Either way I just keep going with the thought that people's judgments are merely projection of their own issues and that they don't think of me as much as they think of themselves. I hope anyone struggling with this disorder right now will find a solution that works one day. It's definitely not easy but I believe the long journey to healing will be worth it. Cheers.

in elementary school I used to be so anxious and scared of others. when I arrived at middle school I decided that I wanted to change, I worked hard mentally and in some sense I had to become bold to make friends. luckily it worked out but, I still find myself shaking when I'm alone with a friend, or finding myself trying to make myself small. weirdly enough I'm more anxious when im only with 1 person, but less when I'm in a group. I'll be extremely anxious with people whom I'm not close to….

I use to have extremely severe social anxiety, but now its only mild. Surrounding myself with friends I trusted and liked and purposely doing things that terrify me really helped (but in small steps of course) Like I started joining more clubs and stuff w/ trusted friends. Also the cognitive therapy never helped

One of my friends has social anxiety, so I usually help her with things like ordering food and asking questions to strangers (for example an employee at a store)… sometimes I feel like maybe it’s best for her to learn to handle doing it by herself, but I’m also scared that if I don’t help her with small things like that she’d suffer more

Everytime I explain to my parents that I really don't want to go outside or do certain things sometimes, they make me go outside anyways. And it's probably just made me more sad. I'm still really shy and I absolutely hate having to talk unless it's with my friends or loved one. There's only a few people I can trust really. And… I don't think my family understand that I really can't stand being near loads of people or participating in social activities. I try to avoid public speaking as much as I can… I'm more confident on my own or with a trusted friend. I think I've gotten better recently but I'm still quite awkward. Oh wait… no one needed to hear this, I'm just rambling on. Anyways, I just wanted to say that this video was really great and hopefully some people can understand social anxiety better. Thank you.

Last year my friend moved to another place and had to go to another school. She invited me to her birthday party but I could not go because she had invited people from her new school. Since she did not understand how bad having social anxiety is (especially for me. I have really bad social anxiety) i actually lied to her and just said that I was sick.
I felt really bad that a stupid disorder was keeping me from seeing my friend. Maybe I was just overreacting I don't know. ;-;

I started having social anxiety at the start of 7th grade, because one of my best friends stopped talking to me completely with no explanation of why. I fear of this happening to others, and because he is friends with all of my friends, it weakened our relationship. I fear everyone's opinion of me now. I know no way of coping with this. So, I have severe social anxiety- and my mom forces me to do social things…it's horrible. My dad is very outgoing which makes me have to stand there and almost die- not literally- but y'know. My mom, however, had social anxiety as a kid but she's overcome it. Whenever I tell her I can't do something, I have severe social anxiety, she tells me that like I KNOW! But I've lived with it for over 10 years. I'm not telling you my age ('. .) But yea- that's sorta my life. I mean, I can hangout with my friends but when I have to do something I have to ask them to go with me ;-; When I even WALK I feel judged. My parents don't know this- I don't want to. I don't wanna take medicine. I'm fine. I've lived with it for this long. There's a lot more than that. Social anxiety disorder sucks.

same, it's really hard sometimes. It kind of makes me look like a heartless human being that doesn't appreciate their friends, but in reality, that's not the case at all! it's just that I might need some time and space to clear up my thoughts and some other stuff.:) It's also really hard cuz all my friends consider me the "popular one" so I really don't want to let any of them feel like I don't like them. Honestly, it's really hard.
