We need to get curious about them." It's really easy to brush us YSA's and our struggles off by saying we're all afraid of commitment or lazy or don't know how to learn or set goals or whatever else. I'm tempted to list all my own observations of why YSA's aren't leaving home or getting married or getting jobs, but it would take too long. That's why I go back to that advice given at the first. If you want to help us YSA's, talk to us! Ask us questions! What are our concerns? Our ambitions? Our struggles? What kind of changes do we want to see made in the world? What kind of person do we want to become? I think you'll see that most of us want the same things for ourselves that you as parents want for us.

   I'm only at 2:30 but I just read your comment and I think the biggest problem we face (I'm 23) is not being able to connect with others on an emotional level. in my opinion, we only know how to do an imitation of that by doing what others want, because sometimes we were never given consecutive opportunities to develop our own Independence​ and will. Because of this lack of independence and differentiation from our parents, our schools and our church, (which I think translates to self worth and the ability to recognize and pursue what we really believe in), I think it's much easier to turn to the temptations of the world when we realize that maybe it wasn't ever really our choice, or we were just faking it the whole time. I think physicality in relationships is a big temptation for many young adults. It's a way to feel connection even if it is shallower when done out of order. Of you can helps us find out what we really want and what us actually valuable by helping us to experience the value of the gospel more, then I think we will be a lot better off. For me, I've realized that for most of my life, I've been shoving the gospel down my own throat even when I haven't really come to the conclusions that I place I'm my head using what I know other people would want me to say.

   A mother of 5 born between 1982-1998… A lot has changed in getting young adults out into this world. Teaching good work ethics has come under more criticisms; an exuberant action many parents missed out doing and don't know how to teach: like hauling hay, moving sprinkler pipes on Hay fields, working 4H activities. Learning people skills by working at a grocery store. Work enables kids to be more ready to face reality at 20. I knew 2 brothers who made wonderful highschool teachers; they loved teaching the world's up coming leaders, and we felt and knew they did! They also did landscaping in the summer, teaching their families work ethics, and provided beautifully for their large families?
