    if the child or any victim goes unconscious due to an obstructed airway (choking), you should not go into CPR. Why? CPR is done to get the heart starting again. What will it help to start the heart if they cannot breathe? Rather than doing CPR, you should do 30 chest compressions, then open the mouth and check for solids. if there is nothing there, do 30 more and continue the process until there are solids. after the solid is removed, you should do 1 test breath and then make sure that the chest rises and falls. If it doesn’t, keep doing compressions. but if it does rise and fall, check their pulse to make sure they still have one. If no pulse, THEN you can go into CPR.
