Madelyn speaking. Responding from potty training from the other video. When I was trying to potty train my daughter many many years ago. She refused to poop in the potty. I suggest first trying having her sit on the potty with a diaper on a few times, so she is not afraid. Then cut a whole in the back of the diaper where she would poop, and have her then sit on the potty. If she happens to go you could show her it does not hurt and to be afraid. And reward her if she does any of the above. Good luck.

I am 100% in agreement with you on the parenting styles each child is different. She will learn to go #2 in the potty when she is ready. How is the nail polish working ? My son learned to wash it off lol It worked for my niece almost instantly. It just proves what works for one child does not mean it will for the other. have you tried this: the next time Abbey wants a diaper you say ok, and then take her to the bathroom ask her to take off her clothes and put on the diaper herself and then wait for her to poop and then make her take the diaper off herself put it in a bag you happen to have and then get her to clean her self up with baby wipes and get her to throw that away and then get her to put back on all the clothes underwear and everything. give her the bag and make her throw it out. She will see that it takes a lot of work to just use a diaper and if you do that more than one time she will not like the process and just opt to go to just poop in the potty in the first place. Just a suggestion. P.S. – I love the rant at the end. You really are a great parent.

Also, I got to say Bless Axel and his appetite most kids his age are really picky eaters and he just loves to eat. I love seeing his little smile and he just gets better every day. His personality is very uplifting and he actually makes me smile just looking at him.

You are a fantastic parent Jackie. Setting a good example for your children, I feel is so important. It is not an easy task to stay calm and it can frustrate kids even more sometimes when we stay calm. Children are learning from us, our habits and how we deal with things and in turn hopefully that will help them and how they deal with challenging situations. There is a lot of satisfaction in staying calm (and it is a lot healthier). That was an awesome vlog Jackie I think your parenting skills are fantastic. Keeping a household calm and running smoothly is challenge and a lot of hard work mentally and physically. Just keep doing what you are doing, you are a beautiful example for other new mothers ( sorry no pressure ). That could be an interesting subject for your ( live chat show ) being a new age parent. Yes!!!!!! Sorry for using the word strict but that's what everybody called my parents. And I'm Christian so strict and sheltered. I don't know how else to explain. BTW. I was super sick my organs were almost fully shut down and I couldn't think. I'm still super sick. I meant no harm. I love you as a mom. And you've taught me a lot that just like every kid is different every parent is different so I don't pick at others parenting. Kids are healthy and happy then fine. That calm voice keep that for when Abbey is a teen. Still to this day if I'm upset PTSD wise my mom will yell and I break and hide. My dad stays calm even when his blood pressure is through the roof. He'll yell at the world but not me. And it calms me down. Always has can remember since I was a baby.

Each child is a different person, with different needs. I think the way you respond to each child is different too. One thing may work for one child but not for another. And I too teach each new class every year differently because they are different people. I get mistaken as “lenient” too because like you I believe I shouldn’t have to raise my voice either…..or else like you said you are on their level. You explained everything great!

I had a lisp when I was younger because I sucked my fingers. I went to speech therapy and they just had me press my tongue against the bottom of my teeth and make the s sound. My mom also tried that nail polish and as nasty as it was I was a dedicated finger sucker lol it took a long time for me to stop. Even when I stopped during the day they would automatically be in my mouth as I was sleeping.

Oh hey that polish you used on Abbey's nails I had a "friend" from church whose mom used that on her with in 3 days she got used to it and it did nothing. Lol but this was a 10 year old and her teeth were severely effected from it. And my sister was 4 when she stopped the dentist said she needed to so my mom like you told her if she didn't suck her thumb for a month she could get her ears pierced. A month later no more sucking thumb and pierced ears. Lol. Kids do grow out of it but at the same time they sometimes do it in there sleep like a security blanket.

I may be too laid back. But with my girls I never rushed potty training. When they were ready we started. They weren’t going to walk into kindergarten in a diaper lol. My first daughter was 19 months and my second daughter was three and a half. You are doing a great job Jackie. Everybody does there own thing. 🙂 love you all. Go Eagles !!!! I have commented about that as well. Every single child is different. I didn't yell at my children until they hit their middle teens. I seemed to yell more at my daughter than the boys. That age is hard to keep cool. Although my husband who used to be a police detective and than a fire lieutenant had way more patience than me. He can take any tantrum, at any age and smooth it out. Thank god those yelling matches didn't happen often. Choose you battles.
