i feel s s remove children at drop of hat,eg,a boy who has to se his abusive father once a week.the boy is pushed for info on his mother and constantly punished and interrogated.instead of stopping contact with the father,they find it easier to remove child from mothers loving care,as she failed to keep said child safe.system is really damaging to childeren.there is a huge need for child protection,but they get it wrong a lot.they twist facts and actually lie.one senior social worker said that kids on the spectrum who also are adhd,when they have meltdowns,,its purely down to bad parenting,,,smh.

I believe in the Netherlands adoption is only possible if the birth parents give their child up for adoption. In other cases, there will be ‘long term foster care’, which basically means the same, apart from the fact that there will be the possibility for biological family to stay in touch and for the foster parents there will be the foster organization who provides help and support and makes the access to specialist and therapist easier if this help is needed. In my opinion, even when parents aren’t able to care for their children, like the couple with the baby girl, it doesn’t mean they don’t care. I can imagine that these children grow up wanting to know who their biological parents are. And even when the parents are awful and shouldn’t have any contact, there might be grandparents who care and want to play a (small) role in those kids lives. I know a family who have 3 long-term foster children and all use the foster parents last name, but they all have biological family members visiting for birthdays ect. For one it is mom, the other a grandmother and aunt and the third child has an aunt and uncle who visit.
I feel that this adoption-circus kind of leads to children completely leaving behind what they had, almost giving up who they were. Even though we know sometimes this is nothing but a good thing, for the children it is all they know.

Lauren should have never been told she is getting to old. Shame on the social workers for including her in those conversations!! I fostered 3 children. One was 7. He was never involved in the conversations. That puts so much unneeded stress on these children.

I don't presume to know much about how fostering and adopting children works; much less the circumstances that give a government the right to remove a child from the care of his and her parents. I'm sure there are good situations and bad situations on both sides. It alarms me how many children are removed from their real parents and being a mother myself, I know it would kill me if anyone removed a child of mine from my care. I would have preferred more rounded reporting on these cases. The birth parents, their support systems, families and problems aren't discussed. I wonder why? This makes it rather one-sided. I have read of many instances when the adoptions don't go according to plan. I'm sure mistakes are made and deep inside I feel very uncomfortable that the state has so much power over children.

3 years to finalize an adoption is ridiculous. the children spent another 3 years in an orphanage for what???!!! friends adopted a russian baby in 6 months & my cousins adopted a baby from china & it took 18 months. & both families were thoroughly investigated, medicals, etc.. & reams of paperwork completed. there is no excuse for this domestic adoption to delay so long.

But due to meds its not safe. I cant even foster and adopt. But as much as it breaks my heart, If my meds can give my child disabilties on top of my families varied learnibg diabilties. I dont want to risk it. I know i am likely to have a kid with autism im a carrier. And i know if i wasnt ill, i could cope with autism, grew up around it. Ok this is like a therapy rant lol. But i keep watching this and thinking if only i could. But i have thought about this and grieved. But i have neices now so il be the aunty who has fun a few hours every week
