People are saying stuff like "People should be what they want to be" and that people should ignore stereotypes, but why don't they? Why don't girls protest and say that instead of wearing a dress they'll wear jeans or whatever, if it's such a bad thing and it makes people sad, then why don't people go along with it? What am I supposed to take from this? That as a girl, I can't do arts or home ec stuff? Or that boys can't pursue a career in any STEM fields because it would be following a stereotype? What if, instead of wasting my time with a video about dumb stereotypes that don't really matter, you could make a motivating video on being able to go into any career I choose. Don't bother me with "kids toys are terrible for having an accurate target audience" or "society is terrible for not actually pushing these stereotypes but we say they are so we MUST go against them!"

I don't think I really did boy only stuff as a kid since I remember playing with dolls and kitchen playsets alongside Transformers and Power Rangers. Even now I wish that shirts I want had characters I like (like from Moana I want Moana not Maui) but marketing assumes guys don't want women on their shirts and when they do the female characters the character might be the opposite of girly and still do them in pink and pastel blue (Rey from Star Wars is a great example). I also get turned off by a lot of masculine stuff because of the macho/explosions/tough imagery since I don't identify with that type of man at all.

I am actually really interested in this. Have you guys heard about the toy experiment with apes? Most of the the female apes wanted the female toys and most of the male apes were interested in the male toys. I know it's at least partly learned behavior with these stereotypes, but I really wonder how much is nature and how much is nurture.

When I was a little girl, I didn't really play with dolls. I was more into outside stuff. For my 5th birthday, I got a dollhouse. I once snuck a snail inside the house, put it in a jar, and left it there. (And yes, I did feed it. Don't come attacking me, PETA.) When I was eight, it miserably died. I buried it in the dirt of my backyard. I wasn't a "girl" at all when I was young. But now, my mom is telling me to watch my weight and soon I might be getting plastic surgery done. I don't want that to happen. Sometimes I wish a was born a boy. Then nobody would force me to be something that I don't want to be.
The moral of my story is, stand tall, appreciate yourself, and don't let anyone else control your puppet strings except for you. If someone sees you doing something, and they say something like "Ewww! You're not supposed to be doing that! You're a boy/girl!"Or, "Only boys/girls do this," then just remember, you have lots of freedom in this planet to do what ever you want. Nobody can judge your dreams.
