   So valuable. My mother, after reading my diary, came livid into my bedroom threatening that if I ever got pregnant, she would disown me. Maybe NOT the best parenting, but she was only reacting to the way she was taught herself. And I'm sure there were many other circumstances where I got this message. No wonder I became a very secret teenager, making some questionable choices in my desperation to become 'someone'. (and these are very mild things, but things that reflected my lack of self-worth)
   While I don't agree with all of it, parenting today has come a long way….
