Evening kev, hope you have had a good day. Thanks for doing this video. I have ASD and one of my current obsessions is the weather. I have to watch every weather on the bbc and channel 4 news every day (For some reason my brain isn’t so fussed with the ITV weather) I have to no wot the temperature is going to be at certain times every day. I have 4 different weather apps on my phone, I really struggle wen they don’t all say the same info. Im also obsessed with colouring books. I have over 50 different adult stress relief colouring books and I have to spend at least 2hrs colouring every day. Like Andy I’m also have to close doors as soon as I can after it’s been opened. I REALLY struggle wen ever I have to go out of my routine. like Andy I’m really routine oriented. ???

My obsession is my laptop (specifically retro hotels) and this has been ongoing for 6 years now. The one time my mother took it away for a couple of months after an issue I completely broke down and would constantly ask for it back. During this time I got obsessed with Architecture Lego (not a normal thing a 17 year old girl does I discovered). As soon as my laptop was back I slowly grew out of Architecture Lego and am back to my laptop. I go on it every second i'm in my house, this was also a problem during exam season as revising was a real struggle. I had to assign at least 3 hours a night to laptop time just so I could cope. I am still obsessed with my laptop and I love Architecture Lego but haven't built one in a while. Just a little insight on a soon-to-be diagnosed autistic girl's mindset. 😀

I don't have autism but i definitely get obsessive thoughts. Over the years of trying to understand this I've come to the conclusion I use obsessions to focus on when everything else in my life feels out of control. Eg I've had obsessive thoughts around food, cleaning, collecting new things…..theses are things I can control when everything felt out of control. Unfortunately when the obsessions get too intense they can ultimately end up controlling me….which isn't helpful either.

Hi Andy. I’ve been watching the vlogs for a few weeks. I’ve Had very little to do with autism in my life, several of my friends have autism but only to a very mild degree. I’ve really enjoyed watching the vlogs and I love seeing the joy you’re family shares in lots of parts of you’re daily life. I’d be interested to know what Andy’s ideas for his future are? Does he have plans for his adult life, or does he live for the moment?

I used to have a technician who was my subordinate, he had an 18 year old daughter and he had to restrict what she could watch as she had severe autism. If she watched swearing, she would repeat it anywhere. She also developed a habit of taking her clothes off all of the time. (not a sexual thing, she didn't seem interested in boys at all)
Her main interest on Youtube though was videos for 3-5 year olds, something about ponies I think he said.
In the end it became too much and he had to resign from the job to look after her full time, she ended up being put on a strong benzodiazipine too.
But how are you going to stop your son looking at Call of Duty videos? Surely his friends at school will all be playing Call of Duty? Have you heard of Fortnite, all the kids where I work are playing fortnite now

my obsession was hair loss (specifically androgenic alopecia) and losing hair. despite having no hairloss (a thick norwood 1) i researched all the meds, got on finasteride, looked into new treatments and read the studies about DHT etc.
also i don't shave my beard, i pluck out all my beard hairs every sunday. it takes me an hour or two so i put on a documentary while i do it. as i hate the feeling of hairs on my neck, the itchy feeling irritates me greatly. plucking them out means i don't have to shave during the week and i also hate the dry / itchy feeling of shaving.
i am 32 and work full time and i don't think i have autism however, i've never been diagnosed with it.
