One thing they forgot is double standards. My mom does this( I’m eleven). For example once my sister came in my room and just took my headphones without saying anything. My mom told my to be nice and let her use them. But then I tried to use her old easy bake oven from when she was five that she doesn’t use. Yet I was told by my mom even if she doesn’t use it it’s hers. I use my headphones all the time but was told to share.

I can't even begin to describe how my parents (especially my mother) ruined not only my childhood but my entire life. I have severe depression issues for years only because of them. I have very low self esteem and confidence and I am not sure if I will ever be successful in my life and get over all these. The fact that I still live with my parents just makes things worse.

I describe myself as an “emotional sponge”. I act the way my family acts. I act the ways my peers act. I was just taught by my parent to…just be kind and make everyone happy. Which is good, but…I have this mindset now that if people aren’t happy when they’re around me then I’m not good enough for them, or that they don’t want me around. That I’m weird or unworthy of their attention. I feel lonely a lot of the time because I’m such an introvert (I’m sure plenty of you can relate) I’m usually that one person people come to to ramble or to get help with their problems, just because I’m a good listener. I’m too introverted to talk or really go out there to make new friends. So I don’t usually have anyone to talk to about my burdens, or something because I don’t want to burden anyone with my issues or whatnot. I feel like I carry a lot of others’ burdens which I’m grateful for. I want to help them, but…it just gets overwhelming after a while. Like I said, people can come to me anytime and I’ll help them best I can with anything they’re dealing with but then…I, myself can’t go to anybody.
It’s really quite pathetic of me…

I have overbearing parents. My mom is a guilt tripper. Not just the “I gave birth to you” or “I feed you and put a roof over your head”. It’s full on “this is your fault” “why did you do that” “it’s because of you that such and such happened”.
I’ve ended up with a lot a problems because of this.
I feel comfortable saying that my counselor tested me for a few things and my guilt was at a higher level than both my anxiety and depression. Both of which are DISORDERS I have. Disorders. They’re out of whack bad. And for my guilt to be worse than those isn’t the best news.
I’ve ended up feeling that I can’t do anything, say anything, that I don’t deserve anything, and that I’m just here to be a scapegoat for past mistakes. I feel like a burden. It’s very unhealthy. I’m afraid to talk, interact with people or even go outside because I feel like I’m being judged by everyone around me (which is almost definitely not true). I’m paranoid of what will happen if I don’t please my parents. I can’t talk to them about personal issues or things I’m dealing with mentally because it’s always “my fault” and I should just “forget about it and move on”
I need to be their “perfect little angel”
Once I tried standing up for myself my dad got angry with me and said something like “I don’t like this new you. Why aren’t you like you used to be?” (Cough cough a pushover cough cough)
I’m not even sure this is he right place to talk about stuff like this but…it feels good to get this out there.
