There are 2 reasons it is not bribery

(1) It usually involves only reacting to the behavior with social reinforcement, you don't offer anything in advance.

(2) In other cases, it's not bribery unless you kid is a government official and you are asking for special favors from him in the course of his job.

It's NOT based on bribery. You are reinforcing the behavior once it occurs.

I studied behaviorism in college. I have corrected textbooks that mistakenly define Skinner's negative reinforcement as punishment which is getting it totally backwards. There is a basic problem with behaviorist ethics however. It's based on bribery of people into doing what you want which is not practical dealing with the greedy who just take your rewards and expect more knowing you're too cowardly to stop them.
