There is an inherent bias in it that assumes adopted children are just raised by the people who adopted them, and that the only struggle that takes place is the one related to the child's separation. Adopted families are like other non-adopted families. There can be financial struggles, divorce, neglect and even abuse. Adopted individuals can suffer displacements beyond the initial separation, as they experience being raised by extended family members, migrate to different countries, or endure other hardships. Failing to recognize and include these possibilities in adoption-related discussions makes them diluted, overly-simplistic, and marginalizes a lot of adoptees themselves who cannot identify with even stable adopted family dynamics.

YEP my parents were very happy adopting “me” a plain little white boy and I thank them for it. They didnt want a medal for it. They just wanted a son and I wanted parents. Unfortunately today some adopted parents want credit without boasting or unfashionably bragging about their good deeds. That’s why they only adopt children that cant possibly be mistaken for their own..
