You need to take this down!
You NEVER wash the straps.
You can only wipe them down with a warm damp (barely wet) cloth With mild soap!
Submerging the straps weakens the fibers and that harness will NOT perform correctly in an accident.
You also can not use any chemicals on the shell of the seat!
Read your Manual!

DO NOT give out carseat advice unless you are a CPST!
Any washed harnesses need to be replaced!

You also apparently prefer a dead baby to an alive one. No one suggested using a dirty seat, if you can't clean the straps well enough with a damp cloth replace them.

I'm also not so sure you know what the purpose of flame retardants are.

I'd be happy to comment. I am a materials engineer. When you saturate the straps, you weaken the webbing. Soap will damage the coating on the straps that strengthens the webbing and it could also remove the flame retardant. In an accident, weakened straps can break. If the straps are saturated with food/drink/vomit, they need to be replaced. You can use a DAMP (not wet) cloth only, no soap. If they are horribly stained or smell bad, just replace them. I'm sure your child's safety is worth it.

The Manual of the baby car seat says NOT TO wash the straps in washing machine.

The last think I would care about is flame Ret if my car was on fire I would not go there fine the seats flame ret besides I prefer a clean seat not a flame ret one
