But the video goes on about every single Bible passage that talks about discipline (yes, I think we all agree that we should discipline our children) but when it comes to Prov 13:24, the first verse in the Bible that actually talks about spanking (or so some interpret it anyway), you simply say "That speaks for itself, I'm not gonna talk any more about it."

So really, this seems like a video about the importance of disciplining our children, not the biblical justification for or against inflicting physical pain as a method of discipline.

I'll be honest but I'm really getting disillusioned by this whole thing. The social sciences has found an overwhelming body of evidence to point out the harms and ineffectiveness of spanking as a form of discipline. Yet, it still seems that the Christian view is beat your kids. And I can't seem to find even a single video or article where a Christian really explains this. It's as if we as Christians are expected to live in willful ignorance of the evidence that is freely and abundantly in front of us because, hey, the Bible says don't spare the rod (whatever that really means).
