NOOOO!!! Why would you want your child to get into the habbit of thumb sucking??? Because it is soothing?? This is not good because, 1st: all the germs that go in your mouth. 2nd: the problems with teeth and mouth deformation that happens. 3rd: there are many other ways for your child to be in comfort and soothing. Any pediatrician will be against this practice.

My 5 month old son stopped sucking his thumb about a month ago. I believe it was because I took it to mean he was hungry or tired and so would breastfeed him. Now he can't fall asleep on his own and wakes up numerous time each night, not able to put himself back to sleep with his thumb. How do I encourage him back onto his thumb?
