My view is there are 2 kinds of internet trolls: 1. People trying to get a rise out of someone like a younger brother might, or the equivalent of a prank phone call which can be funny. 2 crazy stalker types which are not funny.

Huge props for calling it out – it's been my observation that dicks usually thrive in environments where they can use shame or fear to keep decent humans from talking about what's going on – as soon as the non-dick population start opening up about what's going on, the dick loses the leverage to isolate others in their own fear, and they lose their power.

Your first troll? Congrats on this milestone. I thought I had thick skin until I set up The Samplecast and became somewhat of a public figure, then I really found out what is like to be trolled. Seems all bets are off when you stick your head above the parapet. How do I deal with it?… by killing them with kindness.

Christian, keep winning. Your troll sounds like he might work in the tech field and probably on the spectrum. These types seek the 'safety of narrow interests' and are medically incapable of empathy. If you are creative and you decide to get out into the light to present your tracks to the audience, only one dislike/downvote could have a great impact to your emotional balance. It's hard to face the ignorance of other people, who are perhaps a bit jealous of your skills. Don't think about it. If you have only one person, who likes/loves what you are maiking, it was all worth it. The chance to be loved is low. Ban the haters and forget them. Life is to short.
