Ugh… This all sounds so familiar.. He keeps threatening to leave but never goes. The kids in the house are all mine. He wanted to be their dad.. He acted like an actual dad.. Until they got into the pre teen stages.. Now all of a sudden they are my kids. And he flat out told all of them, in front of a councellor, that he no longer wants to be their dad… My heart broke right then and there. He completely devastated my two youngest who have never known any other dad.. All i could do was reassure them that i will always be here for them.. Always.. I may not like my kids sometimes but i love each and every one.. So sad..

Thank you Duane, I appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective on all of the levels that were discussed. I found your interview with Angie to be quite educational and I sincerely thank you for taking the time to help the community. You touched on the word judgement with some apprehension. I'd like to share my view of this. As an empath, I think that it's perfectly healthy to build an objective layerset within our human psyche to protect us from counterdependency, while standing our psychological ground. I prefer to think of this as 'identification' rather than 'judgement'. As a son of a narcissistic father, it's great to see a parent take a stand against narcissistic abuse, helping both himself and the view seen by his children. I commend you for your actions and your continued engagement within the survivor community. Angie, thank you so much for interviewing this wonderful gentleman. He's a fine example of a father who did right.
