My parents applied when I was younger (8/9/10) but was denied because of the lack of bedrooms in our home… and because of the potential of the parent staying at our house for a while to learn from you… they didn't feel like ot would be as safe for us… I have always said that once my kids are grown up I want to foster 🙂

I would LOVE to be a foster parent one day!! When I was younger my parents applied and went through months of paperwork to become foster parents, however were denied because my dad has MS. Having a physical and neurological diability was seen as 'unsafe to a child'. I thought this was crazy because my parents are extremely generous with their time and have the financial security to really improve the lives of children in need long term.
Despite this, we had family friends who fostered children in emergency situations for 1-2 weeks at a time and I remember as a young teen how confronting it was to be exposed to the sort of lifes/backgrounds these children had clearly come from. Breaks my heart.
You are an amazing person!
